Hello, My name is Matthew Jenkins and I am the founder of All Ages First Aid Training. I am a single dad of three beautiful children who mean the world to me. As a Father the safety of my children is paramount and I always ensure they are safe in Life and in First Aid,

However as a single Dad I asked myself the question  “Who looks after me?

In December 2015, My eldest daughter Ashleigh (who was 8 at the time ) asked me “Daddy if something happens to you what am I meant to do”

I of course said straight back “Its ok honey nothing will ever happen to me”

That evening in bed I thought about what my little girl had said. I do not have a partner, it is just me as the adult in the house, what if something should happen to me, What would my kids do.

I realised I had been teaching First Aid for such a long time to Adults so other adults can save the lives of other adults predominately in the work place, but what about at home, what would happen if I collapsed, had a heart attack, Stroke, Asthma attack, Choking, Diabetic emergency, Seizure etc. etc.20151130_185004

How am I going to get help to ME. The last thing I ever want for my children is for them to see me in that state and just stand and watch me pass away and blame themselves for not knowing what to do.

The biggest question I asked myself that night was:

“I train adults in first aid to save the lives of other adults and children, why am I not training children to save the lives of Adults as well”

Why Shouldn’t I be training both Adults and Children?

So I resigned from my well paid Senior First Aid Instructor and Security Training role in Papua New Guinea and made my way home for the last time.

My first vision for All Ages First Aid Training was to continue training adults in first aid but to also take first aid and the saving of lives to not just adults, but to children as well.

Sometimes accidents at home happen just like in the work place but in the work place we have other adults/First aid officer’s available to assist, however at home if an accident happens to an adult our children do not know what to do.

With my vision I decided it was time I delivered more first aid training to the children of today, through fun, practical, exciting, mum and dad participation and interaction, in the safety of their own home, using the same phone/equipment in the house, So the child does not feel scared, pressured or intimidated but at completion of the training have a basic understanding of the very basic ideas of first aid. This ranges from checking for danger, putting someone in the recovery position, using a mobile/house phone, calling triple zero (000) and what to say to the operator plus so much more.

When I completed building the first aid awareness for children package my very first 3 students and of course my strongest critics, my beautiful 3 children received my package. They enjoyed the package so much Ashleigh now wants to be a Paramedic and First Aid Trainer when she gets older, But more important I know in myself any of my 3 children have the confidence to initiate a response that might save not only my life but also the life of others. You should have that feeling to.

Since All Ages First Aid Training began 2015, we have trained over 1000 children on the basics of saving a life.

Thank you for taking the time to look at All Ages First Aid Training and we hope that you and your  family can join us in a class together in the near future.

Regards

Matthew Jenkins
